Hilary
7th in local road race
For the second year in a row, Hilary returned to a local 5km
road race in Martiny for an early test of her fitness.
With cold and rainy weather, the 5-lap winding course proved
to be challenging for all racers. Although times were on average
thirty seconds slower than last year, this did not decrease
the overall competitiveness of the race.
Athletes from six different countries were represented in
the top-10 of the women’s elite race. Hilary finished
7th overall and described it as a good wake-up call.
“It was good to get the feeling of racing again, it’s
always a bit of a shock to the system at the beginning of
the season,” said Hilary after the race. “But
it’s a much needed wake-up call that you can’t
quite mimic in training.”
Next up for Hilary is another local road race in Bulle on
November 17.
