Hilary
qualifies for World Indoors in Karlsruhe
With a full stadium and energetic crowd, Karlsruhe held up
to its reputation of being a good place to run fast. And,
for the second year in a row, proved to be a successul meet
for Hilary.
Just
one month out from the World Indoor Championships to be held
in Valencia, Spain, athletes are starting to take form. Tonight
was Hilary's one chance over 1500m to run the qualifying time
for these championships and she was able to complete the task
successfully.
"After
having a rough go last weekend, I knew it was crucial I get
my head back in it for today," said Hilary. "Before
the race I was really excited to run so I knew I was in a
good mental space. I think these championships will be a good
chance to get some racing experience before Beijing."
Hilary
was 4th overall in tonight's international 1500m with a time
of 4:10.32 behind winner Sylvia Kibet of Kenya (4:07.46) followed
by Sonja Roman of Slovania (4:08.16) and Ghezielle Bouchra
of France (4:08.43).
Another
highlight in Karlsruhe tonight was the new World Record in
the women's 60m hurdles by Susanna Kallur in 7.68.
