Hilary second at Lausanne ¼ marathon, new pb
The Lausanne ¼ marathon took a step forward this year
when, for the first year ever, offered prize money to top
finishers. As a result, the competition was stronger and times
were faster.
Although Hilary missed defending her ¼ marathon title
by just five seconds, one she’s obtained for the last
two years, the stiffer competition pushed her to a new personal
best of 35:10 over the rolling 10km+ course in Lausanne. She
says her more relaxed and happy attitude this year is already
paying off.
“In general, I have not produced the results I want
and am capable of on the track in the last two years; I think
I was too stressed and not having as much fun as I should
be,” says Hilary. “This year I feel more relaxed
and excited about the upcoming year. I have a great support
system in my husband, coach, family and friends who have all
been really encouraging.”
Hilary says this point of the season is about putting in a
good foundation for the rest of the year, which means lots
of kilometers and a few road races to mix things up.
“I wouldn't say training is really intense right now,
more just lots of it to get strong, but I’m really enjoying
the endurance training and feel stronger than ever. Although
this 10km wasn’t really important, getting a pb shows
I’m ahead of where I’ve been and gives me some
confidence going into the rest of the road races and season.”

Next up for Hilary will be the Corrida
