Good
opener at local road race
April 10, 2006 - Oirsbeek, NL
Easter Monday in Oirsbeek, Netherlands, proved
to be a busy day in this small village about 20 km from Maastricht.
It was the day of the annual Peter Rusman Loop road race and
over 500 runners toed the line in either the 5.6km, 10 mile
or kid’s race.
Stellingwerff
opted for the 5.6km and used it as a solid tempo run, which
proved to be a great chance to run with some people and get
a good training session in. She was the top female in the
race and 6th overall.
“I always enjoy road races for the enthusiastic
fans and relaxed atmosphere,” said Stellingwerff. “And
the Dutch people really get behind athletic events, no matter
how big or small, which makes it so much fun!”
Now Hilary
will take the next month to focus on training. She will be
heading Portugal for two weeks to train with a group up Dutch
athletes, including up and coming talent Adrienne Herzog.
Hilary’s next race will be a 1500m on May 24th in Nijmegen,
Netherlands.
